My truth. My life.

Unexpected Anticipation

One line or two.

Pink or blue.

Plus or minus.

No matter which type of test you choose, the anticipation of your life from that moment on is going to change.  What will you do with the choice that you have been blessed with?

At 18 years old, I was given a gift.  Before then, I had no real purpose in life.  I was on the path of not graduating high school.  I didn’t care enough to force myself to grow up and do something with my life.  I allowed myself to stay in abusive relationships and continue on a downhill slope.

When I found out I was pregnant things began to slowly change.  I was NOT going to have a baby before I had a high school diploma.  I managed to go to school everyday, work 4 or 5 hours a day to save money, and go to night school every night.  I managed to graduate only 6 months after my graduating class of 95.

Graduation night was something my parents and I looked forward to.  That morning, my mom took me to have my nails and hair done.  I proceeded to go into labor shortly after the lady began to do my nails.  My graduation night was spent in labor at the hospital.

Early the next morning, a beautiful baby girl was placed into my arms.  I took one look at her and I said goodbye to my past.  My anticipation for my future was unreal.  Unreal, scary, and exciting.

Taylor was an unexpected gift.  True love in its purest form.

There is anticipation in the air around these parts.  Anticipation of semesters ending, of reunions with distant loved ones, of sleigh bells on rooftops.  We hope you are all reveling in it instead of being consumed by it.  And we hope you revel in the weekly prompt.  Good luck!

  17. nice take. You and my lady have a lot in common. At 17, her life was going nowhere fast. Her boyfriend at the time committed suicide, and she was on a downhill spiral. She ended up pregnant a few month afterwards. Soon afterwards she had something to live for, a new part of her life. She returned to school and obtained her high school diploma, went to college, got her social work degree…oh, and she met me. We are getting married next fall. We have been together 8 years now, and are raising her little boy as our own. He is a son to me. Thanks for your wonderful post, I hope it inspires others. nice blog too!
