MY THOUGHTS ON THE SUBJECT ARE AS FOLLOWS

My truth. My life.

Finally selfish

untitled

You have brought out the selfishness inside of me.

Twice before, I have given myself to satisfy the needs of others.

This time, the third time, I have made my first choice.

You.

This is written for Trifecta:

This weekend we’re asking for 33 of your own words inspired by the idiom,
third time’s the charm.  This familiar phrase may have an indeterminate
origin, but its meaning is clear.  Whether or not you include the phrase itself
is up to you.  Just make sure to use exactly 33 words.  And, as usual, have fun
with it!

  1. Right on! When we take care of ourselves we need to be a little selfish, don’t we?

  2. I love the conviction in her voice here-that she is choosing to do something for herself this time! Terrific 33 words!

  3. Did I misunderstand, or does she oncce again give herself away… ? but no… I don’t think so… great piece

  4. Why do I always feel like you know my story? Beautiful piece.

  5. Wonderful that this time, she chooses. Nicely said, Deana!

I like how she gives herself away on her own terms. This is strength in a small space.

    So sweet! (:

  8. It never really works if you don’t do it for yourself anyway. Thanks for linking up, Deana. It was so awesome to meet you this weekend. You’re, like, pretty much my new favorite online person. xx

    • I loved meeting you as well! I think I got my nerve to write back. I have been a writing fool today. Next time you are in the country we have to meet up again, sans kids. I feel lots of great conversations coming our way!

  9. Beautiful! And yes, sometimes we really do need to be selfish. Awesome take on the prompt Deana!

  10. I sense partial autobiography here 🙂 Nicely written, Deana

  11. This is sweet. This is the good kind of selfishness, though 🙂

  12. Great job Deana, love can do that to you! 🙂
