MY THOUGHTS ON THE SUBJECT ARE AS FOLLOWS

My truth. My life.

Blanket of love

imagesCAAVNCT5

You surround me with your warmth.

As I lay here entangled in you,

you encourage me to dream.

When I wake to find

that once again you have pulled away,

I feel alone.

For Trifecta:

This weekend, we’re sending you back to English 101 to revisit the concept of literary devices.  We want you to give us a 33-word example of personification.  Wait.  What?  You forget what that is?  It’s the practice of attaching human traits and characteristics with inanimate objects, phenomena and animals (http://literary-devices.com).  It’s when the wind howls, the car door grunts, and the front porch shrugs its shoulders under the weight of its own history.  Remember?  For some writers, it’s the backbone of their art.  This weekend, we want you all to give it a whirl, and we can’t wait to see what you come up with.  Good luck!

  1. Those darn fickle blanket friends. Excuse me, I am going to go snuggle with one now…

  2. Great! I never want to wake up either. Blankets are a wonderful invention…

  3. ” ..once again you have pulled away,

    I feel alone.”Great line there:-)

  4. ahhh, deana. My woobie is my best friend, too, and like many best friends, leaves me cold all too often. 🙂 Nicely done.

  5. Yes, and not due to passion or fun, just..to wake up cold…warm lines about loneliness..

  6. Nothing like being curled up in one. I could stay there forever!

Sleeping is paradise. Sleep is the ideal state of being. I love sleep…

  8. Oh! So this isn’t about………..a person? Oh, I see…..blankets! I get it now! 🙂 Now that I get it, I appreciate how well-structured this is. Nothing like a snuggly blanket; especially on these cold, wintery mornings. It’s bitterly cold here in Cobourg!

  9. Love this Deana! Especially this line: “As I lay here entangled in you, you encourage me to dream.” I have a similar relationship with my blankets.

  10. Stunning. I love what you did with this prompt!

  11. Entangled, that’s your word.

  12. Wonderful, deana – when I wake to find that once again you’ve pulled away – that’s a great line!

  13. I love this personification…I actually thought this was about a person (until I looked at the picture – duh!)

I usually find my dreamy comfort stolen by someone else, leaving me alone and annoyed (and cold)!

  14. This was great. Makes me want to wrap up in a blanket now! I too like this winter, if it didn’t seem to last so long. Great post!!

  15. Sounds comfortable!

  17. Happens with me all the time.. Blanket disappears when I wake up.. 🙂 And honestly if you don’t look at the pic, it really looks like it’s a person you are talking about..

  18. Aw…oh! It’s a personified blanket! Hehe, nice 🙂

  19. I hope you didn’t write about Monki’s blanket. she’ll be ticked.

    lovely 33

  20. And then I found out my kids stole you and left you on the ground so the dogs could sleep on you. 😉

  21. Nicely done – a really good take on the prompt.

  22. wow … wonderful emotions here !!!

  23. Ohhhhh bed. My greatest love. 🙂

  26. Oh how a blanket can hold us close!

  27. Lots going on here… I can see the bedclothes all twisted on the bed… in fact mine are never made… maybe I should be more sensitive… this was very nice.

  28. Very nice piece! Makes me wanna crawl back into and look for my blanket lol

  29. Blanket or lover, works well both ways. Nice piece.

  30. Your blanket sounds much kinder than mine. Mine has a habit of drifting away if I stop paying attention to it…

  31. Nice! I love my blankets. Warmth and protection.

  32. I keep on saying this but I feel like you’re writing my story. Lovely and sad.

  33. This is lovely! I’m enjoying reading your writting.. And I’m excited to follow you now, and on twitter too!!

  34. Not only do I feel alone when they pull away… they leave me feeling cold. 😉

    God bless you,
