Blanket of love
You surround me with your warmth.
As I lay here entangled in you,
you encourage me to dream.
When I wake to find
that once again you have pulled away,
I feel alone.

For Trifecta:
This weekend, we’re sending you back to English 101 to revisit the concept of literary devices. We want you to give us a 33-word example of personification. Wait. What? You forget what that is? It’s the practice of attaching human traits and characteristics with inanimate objects, phenomena and animals (http://literary-devices.com). It’s when the wind howls, the car door grunts, and the front porch shrugs its shoulders under the weight of its own history. Remember? For some writers, it’s the backbone of their art. This weekend, we want you all to give it a whirl, and we can’t wait to see what you come up with. Good luck!
Those darn fickle blanket friends. Excuse me, I am going to go snuggle with one now…
Thanks Kristen!
soulful
Thanks!
Great! I never want to wake up either. Blankets are a wonderful invention…
Yes they are! Thanks!
” ..once again you have pulled away,
I feel alone.”Great line there:-)
Thank you so very much!
🙂
ahhh, deana. My woobie is my best friend, too, and like many best friends, leaves me cold all too often. 🙂 Nicely done.
Thanks Barbara.
Yes, and not due to passion or fun, just..to wake up cold…warm lines about loneliness..
Thank you !
Nothing like being curled up in one. I could stay there forever!
Me too! Thank you for reading!
Me too.
Sleeping is paradise. Sleep is the ideal state of being. I love sleep…
I love sleep as well! Thank you so much for stopping by and taking the time to comment.
Oh! So this isn’t about………..a person? Oh, I see…..blankets! I get it now! 🙂 Now that I get it, I appreciate how well-structured this is. Nothing like a snuggly blanket; especially on these cold, wintery mornings. It’s bitterly cold here in Cobourg!
Thanks Tom. You make me smile with your comments!
Love this Deana! Especially this line: “As I lay here entangled in you, you encourage me to dream.” I have a similar relationship with my blankets.
Thank you Suzanne! I love that you stopped by my page!
Stunning. I love what you did with this prompt!
Thank you Tina!
Entangled, that’s your word.
That is my word! Thanks.
Wonderful, deana – when I wake to find that once again you’ve pulled away – that’s a great line!
Thank you steph! This comment makes me happy!
I love this personification…I actually thought this was about a person (until I looked at the picture – duh!)
I usually find my dreamy comfort stolen by someone else, leaving me alone and annoyed (and cold)!
Great! Then I accomplished it well! Thank you for stopping by!
This was great. Makes me want to wrap up in a blanket now! I too like this winter, if it didn’t seem to last so long. Great post!!
Thank you so much for reading!
Sounds comfortable!
it is!
lovely -felt the warmth deeply
Thank you so very much!
Happens with me all the time.. Blanket disappears when I wake up.. 🙂 And honestly if you don’t look at the pic, it really looks like it’s a person you are talking about..
Wonderful! That’s what I was hoping for! Thank you.
Aw…oh! It’s a personified blanket! Hehe, nice 🙂
Thanks Dawn!
I hope you didn’t write about Monki’s blanket. she’ll be ticked.
lovely 33
It was so about monki’s blanket. Dont tell her.
And then I found out my kids stole you and left you on the ground so the dogs could sleep on you. 😉
This happens much to often! Thanks for stopping by.
LOL Anytime. I loved your personification. I just had to laugh because I was fussing about my blanket with my kiddos just moments before. 😉
thats funny! Thank you so much!
Nicely done – a really good take on the prompt.
Thank you Sandra!

Thank you so much Sarah!
Well this is just warm and cozy ❤
Thank you!
Oh how a blanket can hold us close!
Very true!
Lots going on here… I can see the bedclothes all twisted on the bed… in fact mine are never made… maybe I should be more sensitive… this was very nice.
Thank you so very much!
Very nice piece! Makes me wanna crawl back into and look for my blanket lol
Thanks! Im so glad you came by to read my work.
Blanket or lover, works well both ways. Nice piece.
Thank you so much!
Your blanket sounds much kinder than mine. Mine has a habit of drifting away if I stop paying attention to it…
Mine does that as well. I have to chase it down sometimes. Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read and comment.
Nice! I love my blankets. Warmth and protection.
I am the same way. Thank you so much for stopping by to read and comment.
I keep on saying this but I feel like you’re writing my story. Lovely and sad.
Thank you so much friend! Your kind words give me encouragement.
